Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is renowned for her roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes, including the Oscar for her movie Piano. The talented actress began her career as an actor in the theatre with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Since her childhood she's been passionate about performing. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. In the fifth grade, following a bout of mumps, she lost her hearing in her left ear. However, she did not allow that to stop her. At college, she was a theatre student as well as later moving from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dreams. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut following an unplanned conversation with Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote on Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved to Los Angeles she tried to obtain film roles and was offered the role of a co-star on Swing Shift. Over the past three decades, since then, Holly Hunter has been involved in numerous series and television films. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received the Women in Film Lucy Award.
